The spirit of Huddersfield

The Spirit of Huddersfield is an idea we made happen in collaboration with Huddersfield Town Centre Partnership, Kirklees College and Kirklees Council.

Spirit of Huddersfield is a regeneration initiative for Huddersfield Town Centre that takes some of the worst aspects of the town centre, the empty shop windows, and fills them with some of the best things about the town, photographic images of the people and places of the town.

The photographs were all taken by students at Kirklees College, who worked to the brief “The Spirit of Huddersfield”.

The first retail space was launched at an event on Weds 9th March in The Media Centre in Huddersfield. Prizes were awarded to the best three photographs, and the Mayor of Kirklees awarded the prizes and made the reveal of the first retail space.

The selected photography and images from the launch night can be seen below. We hope you find something positive in this project, and that this is just the start of “Spirit of Huddersfield” regeneration initiatives in the town. Huddersfield is a lovely town and has amazing potential for all who live and work here.

We would welcome any comments or ideas about ‘Spirit of Huddersfield” that you would like to leave us below.
